The Awakened Brain: Implications of the Science of Spirituality for Clinical Practice
Dr. Lisa Miller will share research from the science of spirituality and mental health, with a focus on developmental depression as an "invitation" for spiritual growth and renewal. Based upon two decades of scientific research, Dr. Miller will highlight the inherent "hard-wired" nature of personal spirituality in all human beings and its role in psychotherapy, prevention, and development.
After participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:
- understand the heritable-environmental balance of spiritual development
- identify biomarkers of spiritual awareness, based upon genetic and MRI research
- distinguish between a Developmental Depression and Major Depressive Disorder
- understand the phenomenological presentation of "Awakened Awareness"
